The Stella Marina Hotel is located
directly on to the sea, in the centre of San Vincenzo,
in the very heart of the Etruscan Coast.
NATURE
RESERVES.
A Great part of the area of the Costa degli Etruschi
is divided into parks and protected green areas.
Near the sea is the Bolgheri Oasis, splendid and
picturesque wet zone of international standing,
the first faunal sanctuary established in Italy,
and inhabited by thousands of aquatic birds. The
Punta Falcone park is to be found at Piombino, in
addition to the Sterpaia park on the coast. The
Rimigliano park, a verdant faunal oasis on the borders
of San Vincenzo, comprises one of the loveliest
beaches on the Costa degli Etruschi.
SEA
AND BEACHES.
The sea represents the essence of the Costa degli
Etruschi, and is your constant companion. The 'Blue
Flag' beaches, awarded by the European Union and
other important recognitions underline the quality
of the water and the environment. The fine white
sands of San Vincenzo, Vada and the Gulf of Baratti
alternate with the darker and heavier sands of Cecina,
Bibbona and Castagneto Carducci. The pine forests
bordering the shores, the characteristic 'tomboli'
and the Mediterranean vegetation present an ideal
environment for pleasant walks and a great variety
of sports.
MEDIEVAL
VILLAGES.
Nestled snugly between the sea and the hills, or
immersed in the countryside, the medieval villages
of the Costa degli Eruschi have an air of bygone
times. Suvereto, Compiglia, Bolgheri, Castagneto
Carducci, Bibbona, Sassetta, all with their little
paved streets and welcoming churches, museums and
turreted buildings. Among this harmonious medieval
architecture, much evidence remains of the Etruscan,
Roman and Renaissance ages, revealing the heritage
of civilisation and history of this area.
